ROBERT JR. LOCKWOOD
This section is a tribute to all the forgotten old blues players that paved the way for every
guitarist that came on the scene after them, who copied their style but don't give them credit.
Though there are too many of these old pioneer men and women to mention in this space, I
can only touch on a few for you to get the idea.

-
Robert Johnson:  The guy who supposedly sold his soul to the devil at the cross-roads in the
Mississippi Delta.  Now you know what the song, "CrossRoads" is about.

-
Muddy Waters:  Ask the Rolling Stones about him.

-
Albert King:  His style and licks are all over Stevie Ray Vaughn's music.

-
Larry Davis:  Wrote,  "Texas Flood" that Stevie Ray Vaughn made famous.

-
Riley King:  a.k.a. B.B. King, B.B. stands for Blue Boy.  He named his Gibson guitar, Lucille",
after a lady who died in the fire in the place he was playing.

-
Luther Allison:  Thy guy just churned out tune after tune of the hard times of the working man.

-
Buddy Guy:  His song, "Dam Right I Got The Blues", says it all.  A true icon.

-
Koko Taylor:  A true blues-lady who was every bit as good, and in many cases, better than
most guys who rose to prominence.

-
Bessie Smith:  All she did was sing from her heart but was forgotten.  That's why Janis Joplin
bought a tombstone for her grave.

-
Elmore James:  Yet another icon in blues.  Ask the Allman Bros. about him.

-
Robert Lockwood Jr.:  Personal connection to Robert Johnson.

All these musicians never had the technologies that we have today, but used their brains and
intuition to lay the ground work that musicians draw from today.  And for the most part, the
musicians today have it too easy, they don't use their creativity like the old men and women
did.
 I guess that's why today's music sucks!

In my view, record companies today base their record sales on popularity, not quality music.
